Entering Wat Santi Wanaram (The Lotus temple) #

The temple is very easy to access, being about 1km from the main road leading north out of Ban Chiang town. You arrive into a small collection of buildings surrounding the car park. While there were some food and drink vendors, there were not many shops selling trinkets like many other temples.

The area is quite well maintained. With some small bungalows lining the shore, complete with electric fans built in.

Wat Santi Wanaram #

Wat Santi Wanaram appears inverted to many other temples. Outside it is simple, elegant and white in colour. The physical appearence of a lotus flower provides the only recognisable feature.

However, on the inside, the walls and ceiling are coloured in extremely bright colours and murals. It was a bit of a shock as you move from simple elegance to magnificant technicolour.

Inside Santi Wanaram #

The wat is quite small, being one circular room. The wall space is adorned in magnificant pink and blue murals. Wall space is limited as the room is filled with rounded doors and windows to allow the room to be filled with light.
